SPOILER ALERT: Don't read unless you've read Chapter 26 in "A Discovery of Witches".
I must also warn you that this is probably the most shallow post in the history of posting. But I can't help it. It must be said.
WHAT THE EFF IS GOING ON???????
Matthew came home from Oxford...Diana jumped into his arms...and ever since then I've been scratching my head (which is why I had to jump up from my bed at Midnight to post this.) First there was the little business of getting down to business...on the DRIVEWAY. I can't IMAGINE what Ysabeau must have thought when she looked out the window and saw Matthew's hand on Diana's left breastasie...and both of Diana's hands on his derriere. I mean WTF is THAT??? It was just...I dunno...awkward??? I couldn't get into it because I was like "Dude - are you in the 8th grade?? You did NOT just grab her boob in the DRIVEWAY!"
OK so THEN - she's like "yeah so Ysabeau told us we're bound now...and we went inside and discussed his trip...and then in front of the fireplace in his study he found all my ticklish parts." Um...could someone please tell me what the EFF just happened?? Did they consummate the relationship?? Did I miss it?! Or did they just TICKLE each other?!? And then, later, after dinner, they both put on their jammies and went to sleep. Literally! They WENT TO EFFING SLEEP!!!!
I am about to have a bit of an attack here...so can someone please answer this question - and this question ONLY - with a simple "yes" or "no"...because the mere mention of them going to see a movie or washing their car is a SPOILER in my humble opinion. (And I should apologize because I have skipped a lot of comments thus far due to this very thing. Call me crazy. I don't mind!) OK - drum roll please...
Did they do the nasty in front of the fireplace in the study?!
If not, I will be happy. Blue-balled...but happy. If so - I feel 10 times more jipped than when Edward bit the headboard. SERIOUSLY.
I don't believe they did the nasty yet, but the whole scene was a little odd. They need to just get on with it already:) Just finsihed the audio book yesterday, I have to say Jennifer Ikeda did a wonderful job narrating!
ReplyDeleteTHANK you Jennifer! I have been feeling so completely bizarre about that scene and thinking "If this is what we've all been waiting for - forget it! I'm finished!" (not really as I MUST find out how this story ends.)
ReplyDeleteLike I said, I hate to sound shallow - but who can help it? It's an intriguing story with a TON of build up! Who wouldn't be a little curious as to when they are going to...
PS - ooooh the audio version! That must be a treat. I will have to look into that when I'm finished reading. :)
ReplyDeleteNope, no nasty...........just a vampire wedding apparently. Which consisted of groping on the driveway and a kiss. Guess I blinked and missed it.
ReplyDeleteNot a big fan of PDA. Certainly NOT in front of the Mother-in-law.
Keep reading you are getting there:)Can't wait for 2012 for the second book! The audio version really makes the novel come alive, you definetly have to check it out. Jennifer
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can read comments anymore. I just saw the word "wedding". :(
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteNo, no, no OM says that he "marked her" (Diana) with that kiss.
No spoilers from me............
Awesome Jennifer J - thank you. :) It's so funny - I read these comments with one eye shut and the other barely open. I should take a picture of me doing that; I look ridiculous! I have no idea who is saying what - and all the words are fuzzy. What is my PROBLEM?!? LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny!!! We all know Carol about how you are about spoilers!!!:) LOL
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteYou have no problem! You just don't want the story spoiled for you!!! My 12 yr. old told me about the very important "middle" of Twilight (book 4) when I was on book 1. Nice.
Anyway, back to "Vampire blue-balls".........
Oh. Em. Gee!!! My friend was at a pool at a hotel reading New Moon and some woman asked if what happens in book 4 happened yet! Same thing! Who - after the series - would DO that?!?
ReplyDeleteYa know, maybe a "gentle reminder" about "spoiler space" would be appropriate? I am a serial lurker on Compuserve........never had the guts to actually comment ........but they (Karen) certainly teach you about the importance of spoiler space.
ReplyDeleteJennifer,
do you want me to "change" my name to Jen or Jenny? (it's quite the versatile name we share, ha) or would you prefer to? It really doesn't make a difference to me. I'll give you first dibs though.
No... sadly. No. 3rd base but no homerun....
ReplyDeleteHe He He Ms K:) Jennifer, I don't mind Jen:)
ReplyDeleteNo, nope, uh uh.
ReplyDeleteI was in the craft store yesterday thinking about making a charm bracelet to go along with this book. I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't make one until after Book 7 of Outlander. But on this bracelet I will include something to represent blue balls.
carol--the answer is no; however, since the big M's mama was watching, guess it was a shotgun wedding--vamp style...remember, he's an old fashioned guy (1500 years old fashioned). Julie
ReplyDeleteTerry--please make your bracelet with bb's and sell it on etsy!
I'm glad someone else was confused by this...I thought it was just me zoning in and out of the audio because I'm tired. I've been making excuses to drive places so I can listen to this, but I think I'm starting to like it less and less...something seems to have shifted (the pacing mabye?) and the cheese is getting to be a bit much ("I held him with my eyes, my mind, my heart, my soul"?)...I'm hoping it picks up!
